The Great Blackout of 2008...

We were recently without electricity for a little over 5 days, courtesy of Hurricane Ike.

Thanks to our neighbor Larry (seen here with Rory) and his awesome generator, we were able to save the contents of our refrigerator and freezers.

Wow, the things you take for granted. It became harder to do the little things, such as changing Rory's diapers at night and bathing the boys - here's Owen bathing in the sink in the dark kitchen.

The boys enjoyed their time in the dark. Here they are enjoying cookies and milk by flashlight.

Rory pretty much slept through it all.

Well the second time today I checked the website for new pics and got lucky. So glad your blackout is over. From one who knows all about losing electricity..LOL Loved the pictures of Rory. She finally does look bigger and oh so cute. Can't wait to see and hold her. Love, Gram and Gramp

Oh my goodness! Who knew it would have been 5 days!! I wish we would have known- we had electricity the whole time and are only 2 hrs away. Feel free to come up anytime. Although the power was out it looks like everyone was doing great! Can't wait to see everyone!

Ike certainly was a nasty hurricane that it could wreck such havoc all the way up in Ohio. About 500,000 peple are still without power down here in texas...we were one of the chosen few that got it back after a day...still no internet at home....good thing we have it at work or I would be completely disconnected from the world. love, heidi, warren, jose, david, alex and will
